Good Morning San Jacinto College Community,

We have seen an unprecedented six weeks here at San Jacinto College. I know many of you are still dealing with difficulties from Harvey.  We are also still in a bit of shock over the sudden loss of Chet Lewis, the College’s Vice Chancellor of Fiscal Affairs, and then last Thursday, we sent out a communication about a fatality at the construction site at the Center for Petrochemical, Energy, and Technology on Central Campus.

I am sending this email to provide a few more details for you so you have correct information on last Thursday’s accident. An employee of a subcontractor was struck by a truck operated by a contractor.  Subcontractors are a standard process of the construction process, and they operate under the College’s general contractor for the project. Good Afternoon San Jacinto College Community,

October is here and I hear autumn is in the air (maybe that is further north), but I am still hopeful our temps will reach a high in the 70’s soon!  I hope all of you are doing well as we continue to move forward with life and the semester after Harvey.  I know that many of you are still dealing with your own recovery efforts, and I hope you are getting closer to normal with each passing day.

I am extremely proud of the work that has happened throughout San Jacinto College over this past month.  Thank you for continuing to reach out to support your fellow employees, the community, and our students.  I want to thank the employees and supporters who contributed to the San Jacinto College Employee and Student Relief Fund.  Read the rest of this entry »
