Dean Selection Process and Timeline

Good Morning,

As you know, we conducted a national posting for three instructional dean positions at the College: Dean of Liberal Arts (Central), Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences (South), and Dean of Business and Technology (North).  We received an excellent pool of both internal and external candidates.

We have selected the committees and designed a thorough selection process and an aggressive timeline to conduct the interviews.  There is one interview committee for the two liberal arts dean positions and one committee for the business and technology dean position.  Each team is comprised of two faculty members from each campus, a student services representative, and an instructional dean, is chairing the committee.  Human Resources staff are serving resource members for the committees.  After screening the applicant pool, the committees are completing telephone interviews this week.  From those interviews, they will select 3-6 candidates to bring to the College for face-to-face interviews.  A second committee of the three campus provosts and an administrative representative from student services will interview these candidates, following the faculty committee interviews.  Both committees will recommend their top 1-3 candidates by the end of June, and the Deputy Chancellor and President Laurel Williamson will interview the finalists and make the hiring decisions after consultation with me.

The following are links to documents with the committees’ memberships and the initial screening tools used for the positions.
