Hello San Jacinto College Community –

The end of October is here, and yes, I am loving this weather!!  I hope you are also!!  I also hope that your Individual Performance Plan is near completion since all are due at the end of the day on November 1st.

Hello San Jacinto College Community –

This week I spent several days with three of the College’s Trustees at the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Leadership Congress. This was the 41st annual conference, and its theme was: Community Colleges are Indispensable to Reinvigorating the Economy: Renewing Our Commitment to Access, Excellence, and Student Success. Throughout the conference activities, there was an excitement regarding the increased national focus on community colleges and the growing realization that community colleges play an extraordinary role in reinvigorating the economy.  There were many discussions around the imperative for community colleges across the country to emphasize and focus on student success as we continue our mission of access and opportunity. All community colleges were called to action – the action to be deliberate about student success and to join the National Community College Completion Challenge. Read the rest of this entry »

Weekly Update – October 17, 2010

Hello San Jacinto College Community –

In last week’s update, I indicated that I was going to spend the next four weeks highlighting the strategies and actions related to the strategic goals. I decided to postpone that plan in order to highlight some meetings and discussions from this past week.  

We are midway into October, and all of us are going full force ahead to reach the November 1st deadline for completion of our Individual Performance Plans (IPPs). By this time, each leader should have released the IPP in the system and should have completed at least preliminary discussions with each employee about the development of his or her IPP.  If you haven’t reached these two checkpoints, then you are a bit behind and will need to pick up your pace this week. Hello San Jacinto College Community –

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I sure found it hard to be indoors during this past week – the weather was so beautiful that I wanted to move all my meetings outside!!  That wasn’t possible, but I did try to find a few extra minutes each day to enjoy the outdoors. Everyone is talking about our Chamber of Commerce weather, and I hope you are outside enjoying some of it this week-end!!
