Good morning!

I hope you are staying warm as we brave through another cold blast of air. It’s hard to remember that in October, we were still dealing with heat and humidity! 

This week started off with a Planning Retreat in which the Board of Trustees and the Strategic Leadership Team participated in a facilitated discussion with Byron McClenney.  Dr. McClenney has been a community college educator for more than 42 years and currently serves as the project director of the University of Texas’s Achieving the Dream Initiative. Hello San Jac!

I hope you had a great weekend and that your are enjoying the second week of this blog.  I had a comment that it was difficult to find the weekly updates so I’ve made some changes to the blog and hope you find your way a little easier.  I also have gotten some comments about why I send or post the updates on Sundays.  Please note that I don’t expect any of you to read them on Sundays, but it really gives me time to reflect on the past week in the quiet of the weekend.  My goal is to post before Monday morning. Hello San Jacinto College Community!

I hope you all enjoyed college community week and are ready to jump into the new semester.  The week was designed to focus on college-wide priorities as well as to provide time for campus- and department- specific strategies related to these priorities (i.e. break-out sessions on instructional recovery and performance management).     I have received several comments (all positive) about Dr. Zadina’s presentation on Monday.
