AAWCC is offering the following scholarships for 2012 – 2013.
The Regional Scholarship will be awarded to two students from each of the 10 regions.
The Leaders Program Scholarship will be awarded to one Leaders participant.
The AAWCC Doctoral Scholarship will be awarded to two selected participants for the 2012 – 2013 year. See 2012 Doctoral Program Scholarship information to the right for additional details. For more information,click here.
Happy holidays from the San Jacinto College chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges(AAWCC). We hope you had a relaxing Thanksgiving with family and friends (and lots of turkey, too)!
Our main focus this year is to support the two national AAWCC initiatives – childcare on campus and women in STEM fields. This holiday season, we will have Angel Trees on each campus that will allow employees to purchase an item for the childcare centers, or to make a monetary donation. In March, we will be featuring some of our own faculty and staff who have pursued a STEM career with news articles and website spotlights. We hope you will help us support these initiatives!
Each childcare center provided the SJC AAWCC chapter with a wish list. We have taken those items and created an Angel Tree (see below for the campus locations). Beginning this Monday, December 5, 2011, you can make a donation by selecting an angel that lists a requested item, and then purchasing that item for the childcare center. If you choose an angel that lists a requested item, a description of where you can find the item and the approximate price of the item are provided. Please feel free to partner up with a colleague or two and go in together to purchase an item. We hope to have all of the items purchased for our little angels!
If you prefer, you can also make a $10 donation. All of the items and money raised will go directly to our children’s centers to support their mission of providing quality childcare to our students and employees. Donations should be received by Tuesday, December 20, 2011.

The San Jacinto College Chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) will hold its first meeting of the 2011-2012 year on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 5:30 p.m. We’ll meet on the North Campus in the Monument Room, located in the student center. Dinner will be provided at a minimal cost. Stay tuned… Details coming soon!
We’ll kick off the year with a fun “get acquainted” activity, install the new officers, and talk about upcoming projects and initiatives for the year. The San Jacinto College Chapter of the AAWCC is open for membership to any student or employee. We will have membership information at the meeting, or you can download the membership application under the “About” tab at the top of this page.
We hope you can join us as we kick off another exciting year of celebrating the talents of the women at San Jacinto College!

We will announce the slate of officers for next year and discuss our June meeting.

If you are not already a member, applications for membership will be available at the meeting. You must be a paid member to vote.

This just a reminder that our next meeting, on February 23, will be on South Campus in the Student Center Banquet Room located on the South side of the campus. The luncheon meeting is from 1 -2. Everyone is to bring a salad to share as well as the recipe for that salad and serving utensil. We will put all of the recipes on the AAWCC site. Plates, drinks, napkins, utensils, etc. will be provided. Have a mid-morning snack so you can enjoy the salads at 1.
We will report on the success of the projects so far and discuss the nominating committee and our first elections.

On Thursday, November 18, a representative from Dress for Success Houstonvisited San Jacinto College to discuss their program. The informational handouts and forms distributed at the meeting can be accessed and downloaded from the Dress for Success project page. On Thursday, November 18 at 9:00 am, a representative from the Dress for Success program will be on Central Campus, in the Kaleidescope Room, T102 to explain the program in more detail.The event is expected to last an hour.
